Longview/Gregg Co. Fires Update: Westbound traffic on FM 1844 shut down at Hamby Road and eastbound traffic on FM 1844 is shut down at Hwy 300 due to the brush fire. 15:30 9/14/2011

Closing FM 1844 from Gilmer Road to Hamby... May be extending to Judson road. Please stay away from this area traffic is reported to be heavy and one accident has been reported. Thank you - 14:17/9-14-11

No word on containment - Has burned approx 20 acres based on our firefighters reports... Will update when we have more information.

EAST MOUNTAIN, TX (KLTV) - A large fire is burning through a wooded area near the Gregg/Upshur County line.
Around 7:00 am, a smoke plume was spotted on the horizon and crews from the Glenwood, East Mountain and Judson Metro Fire Departments responded to the scene of the fire on a lease property on North Fuller Road about a mile north of FM 1844.
Two Texas Forest Service plows have been brought in to cut fire breaks. So far 20 to 25 acres have burned. The wind is picking up and crews are worried about containing the fire before it jumps to another area.
There are no structures or homes in danger at this time.

!!! UPDATE _ Fire forcing evacuations in Upshur County !!!
UPDATE 7:39 AM WEDNESDAY: The Upshur County Fire Department tells KLTV that they had the fire 60 percent contained last night, but then between 1:30 and 2:00 am containment was lost and there is no word on where it stands at this point. Authorities in Upshur County do not have an official total on homes lost in the fire.
